Green DIY Energy

This is the last product I will be reviewing for now, but I did keep the best for last. GreenDIYenergy is a great product that supports its claim to reduce your energy bill by 30% - 50%. This became my favorite product I have tried so far, I have tried out many guides and renewable energy products and this one not only follows through on what it claims to do but it backs its product up with a great deal of support.

When I got to this site I knew it was going to give Earth 4 Energy a run for its money and I was correct. I quickly decided that this is going to be one of the guides I would purchase and test. When I downloaded the guide I quickly glanced over it and found that it was the best one by far. It was easy to read and comprehend and therefore easy to construct. What I liked about the whole guide is that there is a step-by-step video that comes with it. The video is over 60 min long and has a detailed look on how to build solar panels and wind turbines!

This site is the clear leader and if you where asking who are the worlds 1 renewable entergy site, I would answer Green DIY Energy!

Earth 4 Energy

These next two products are really close competitors on who are the world's 1 renewable energy site as they are basically selling the same thing but one is a little better than the other and I will explain why later. First up is Earth 4 Energy, this site sells a guide to build your own solar panels and has a free bonus of a guide how to construct wind turbines.

This site does make a good point, building your own solar panels and wind turbines will save you thousands of dollars. These products are very, very expensive to purchase, and thats why so many people are getting in this industry! It is a very smart decision to build your own because it is very easy to do and it is alot easier on your pocket book!

So after going over the website, I went ahead and purchased the guide to see what it had to say and what designs it had for solar panels. My conclusion is that it is pretty straight forward but could use some improvements for the regular joe to understand. Some of the terminology in the guide is used in our industry but not everyone will understand it. This is probably because this site was founded by someone who has been in the industry for 15 years.

I found the videos that come with the guide to be very helpful for those who are new to this type of product. You do not have to be a handy man to build these devices, it is very simple and easy to do. To summerize my experience with Earth 4 Energy, they have a product that works but need to work on explaining it more to the average joe, if they can do that they will be in a dead heat with their competitor for who are the world's 1 renewable site, GreenDIYenergy.

Magniwork

When you first visit the site, Mangiwork claims that they have held a long-held secret when it comes to renewable energy. I already find this claim hard to believe since the renewable energy industry is relatively new and any break through technology is immediately sent out to the market place. But I read on and it becomes obvious that the device you will be building is a magnet generator. Now this is a difficult device to build and it really doesn't work but to give them a fair review I went ahead and purchased the product and downloaded the guide to my computer to analyze the materials they provide.

The guide itself was not too bad but it became more and more obvious as I read on, this would be a complicated device to build. After putting together a list of the materials needed, I put together a total price that it would take to build this device. The price was well over the amount they claimed and I know with my experience that it wouldn't even work as described if it was built. I did not waist the time to build the device, here is my advice, stay away from Magniwork!

Renewable Energy Guides

I have found many, many guides online that help you build your own solar, wind, or renewable energy device at your own home. I have purchased and researched these guides myself and found that most of them do not even work as they are presented in the guides. I have found a few that work and many more that don't.

All of the guides I will be reviewing will be around the $50 range with materials costing between $100 - $200 at your local hardware store. Don't be set back by these up front costs because it will pay for itself many times over after you put the designs into practice. I will review one product that fails to do what it claims and then I will show you two products that do exactly what they say it will with one being easier to follow than the other.

Here are the products in the order I will review them:

Solar Energy Disadvantages

  • The initial cost is the main disadvantage of installing a solar energy system, largely because of the high cost of the semi-conducting materials used in building one.
  • The cost of solar energy is also high compared to non-renewable utility-supplied electricity. As energy shortages are becoming more common, solar energy is becoming more price-competitive.
  • Solar panels require quite a large area for installation to achieve a good level of efficiency.
  • The efficiency of the system also relies on the location of the sun, although this problem can be overcome with the installation of certain components.
  • The production of solar energy is influenced by the presence of clouds or pollution in the air.
  • Similarly, no solar energy will be produced during nighttime although a battery backup system and/or net metering will solve this problem. See www.dsireusa.org for details on how net metering allows you to save electricity and money.
  • As far as solar powered cars go - their slower speed might not appeal to everyone caught up in today's rat race.
Later I will post some solutions you can find online to get solar energy for your home! This is a great way to cut your energy bill down to size and help solve the crisis of global warming!

Solar Energy Advantages

Saves you money

  • After the initial investment has been recovered, the energy from the sun is practically FREE.
  • The recovery/ payback period for this investment can be very short depending on how much electricity your household uses.
  • Financial incentives are available form the government that will reduce your cost. (visit www.dsireusa.org to find out about incentives available in the state you live in!).
  • If your system produces more energy than you use, your utility company can buy it from you, building up a credit on your account! This nifty little scheme is called "net-metering".

  • It will save you money on your electricity bill if you have one at all.
  • Solar energy does not require any fuel.
  • It's not affected by the supply and demand of fuel and is therefore not subjected to the ever-increasing price of gasoline.
  • The savings are immediate and for many years to come.
  • The use of solar energy indirectly reduces health costs.

Environmentally friendly

  • Solar Energy is clean, renewable (unlike gas, oil and coal) and sustainable, helping to protect our environment.
  • It does not pollute our air by releasing carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide, sulphur dioxide or mercury into the atmosphere like many traditional forms of electrical generation does.
  • Therefore Solar Energy does not contribute to global warming, acid rain or smog.
  • It actively contributes to the decrease of harmful green house gas emissions.
  • It's generated where it is needed.
  • By not using any fuel, Solar Energy does not contribute to the cost and problems of the recovery and transportation of fuel or the storage of radioactive waste.

Independent/ semi-independent

  • Solar Energy can be utilized to offset utility-supplied energy consumption. It does not only reduce your electricity bill, but will also continue to supply your home/ business with electricity in the event of a power outage.
  • A Solar Energy system can operate entirely independently, not requiring a connection to a power or gas grid at all. Systems can therefore be installed in remote locations (like holiday log cabins), making it more practical and cost-effective than the supply of utility electricity to a new site.
  • The use of Solar Energy reduces our dependence on foreign and/or centralized sources of energy, influenced by natural disasters or international events and so contributes to a sustainable future.
  • Solar Energy supports local job and wealth creation, fuelling local economies.

Low/ no maintenance

  • Solar Energy systems are virtually maintenance free and will last for decades.
  • Once installed, there are no recurring costs.
  • They operate silently, have no moving parts, do not release offensive smells and do not require you to add any fuel.
  • More solar panels can easily be added in the future when your family's needs grow.
Later I will cover some disadvantages solar energy has, because everything has its pros and cons. Solar Energy is not the end-all solution to our energy problems but it is a step in the right direction!

Welcome!

I am dedicating this blog to ways to get renewable energy for your home! I am very interested in this topic and have tried out some of the claims that internet sites make about their solution to green energy. I have found some have fallen short, but there are some that really do work and drop your home energy bill by 30% - 50%! Why should you believe me? Because I have these items on my home and have used them with great success! But be careful, not all of these items are the same and thats where I come in to provide you with what to buy and what to stay far away from!
